Privacy
Clean Desktop collects nothing about you. This page exists so you can verify that rather than take it on faith.
What the app collects
Nothing. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no account, no telemetry, and no unique identifier. Clean Desktop does not know who you are and does not try to find out.
What the app sends over the internet
One thing, which you can see and control:
- Update checks. Once a day the app requests
cleanmacdesktop.com/appcast.xmlto see whether a newer version exists. This is a plain file request. You can turn it off in Settings › Updates.
That is the complete list. The app makes no other network connections.
There is no licence to activate and no account to create, so there is no record anywhere of which Macs you installed it on.
The Leave a Tip menu item opens cleanmacdesktop.com/tip in your web browser, and only when you choose it. The app itself sends nothing.
What happens to your files
Your files never leave your Mac. Clean Desktop moves them from one folder to another on your own disk. It does not read their contents, upload them, index them, or send anything about them anywhere.
A record of what moved is written to ~/Library/Application Support/CleanDesktop/history.json so the Undo button works. That file stays on your Mac and contains file paths only.
Tips
Tips are handled by Ko-fi, under Ko-fi's own privacy policy. Clean Desktop never sees your card details, and no payment information is stored on this site or in the app.
